GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-6, 1-3 SAC) defeated Tusculum (1-10, 0-6 SAC) by a score of 15-10 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Mars Hill outscored the Pioneers 4-2 in the first quarter as George Yanssens recorded three points in the frame (2g, 1a). Joey Baumgardt and Austin Stroud each netted a goal for the Lions.
Tusculum answered with four goals in the second as Chase Penner struck twice. Yanssens scored his third of the game for the hat-trick while Brandon Woodward and Josh McCallion also tallied for Mars Hill.
Mars Hill dominated the second half, outscoring Tusculum 8-4. Stroud, Woodward, and McCallion each scored twice in the half while Yanssens and Jake Lynch also scored.
Woodward led all players with six points (3g, 3a) while Yanssens (4g, 1a) and Stroud (3g, 2a) ended the day with five points apiece.
Steven Smith made 15 saves in the win.
Mars Hill hosts Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, March 27 inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
