
Lions' fourth quarter comeback falls short versus Cobras

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (2-6, 0-3 SAC) was defeated by Coker (5-4, 3-1 SAC) by a score of 11-9 Saturday afternoon at home.
The Lions trailed by six with 14:23 left in the game. They scored four unanswered goals to cut the deficit to two, but were unable to complete the comeback. Goals came off the sticks of Austin Stroud, Joey Baumgardt, and two from Josh McCallion. Stroud assisted on McCallion's second of the quarter for his second point of the frame.
McCallion opened the scoring for Mars Hill in the first, just six seconds into the game. The teams traded goals before Coker went on a 4-0 run to close out the quarter. Ryan Forehand scored twice while Elijah Utz picked up three assists.
Each team struck twice in the second with Brandon Woodward scoring both Mars Hill goals.
In the third, Coker scored the first three goals of the frame. Stroud netted his first of the contest while Cole Pickell picked up his first of two assists on the day.
Utz led all players with six points (1g, 5a). McCallion led all players with four goals while Stroud also collected four points (2g, 2a). Steven Smith made 13 saves on the day.
Mars Hill faces Tusculum next, on the road on Saturday, March 23. First faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
