
Adame, Evans earn All-SAC Honorable Mention nods
Mars Hill junior pitcher Marissa Adame and senior infielder Ashley Evans were named to the 2021 All-South Atlantic Conference Softball Honorable Mention team, as announced by the league Thursday morning.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill junior pitcher Marissa Adame and senior infielder Ashley Evans were named to the 2021 All-South Atlantic Conference Softball Honorable Mention team, as announced by the league Thursday morning.
Adame, in her debut season with the Lions, set several school records including most strikeouts in a single game (18 vs. Catawba - nine innings) and in a single season (174). She originally broke the school record with 15 strikeouts versus Carson-Newman in the Lions' 6-5 win on February 24. Adame led the SAC in strikeouts by 34 over second place and recorded 10.7 per seven innings pitched, being named the SAC Statistical Champion. She earned nine wins in 18 starts with a 4.54 ERA. The Debray, Florida native threw a no-hitter versus Anderson on March 4.
Evans led the league in batting average (.427) which earned her the SAC Statistical Champion, second in on-base percentage (.525), and sixth in slugging percentage (.760). She hit nine home runs and collected 32 RBI, good for eighth and 13th in the league, respectively. Evans was named SAC Player of the Week following a dominant day versus Carson-Newman, going 5-for-5 from the plate with three home runs and nine RBI. Against Bluefield State, she recorded a season-best six RBI in the Lions' record-setting 22-0 win where she also went a perfect 4-for-4.
