Mars Hill's Maggie Langheim will be a recipient of a Bob McCloskey Insurance (BMI) Postgraduate Scholarship, as announced by the South Atlantic Conference.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced on Tuesday (June 7) that Mars Hill University's Maggie Langheim and Tusculum University's Andrew Cantrell will be the recipients of the Bob McCloskey Insurance (BMI) Postgraduate Scholarships.
"We are thrilled BMI is, once again, able to award postgraduate scholarships to our outstanding student-athletes and allow them to further their education," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "Andrew and Maggie have worked extremely hard during their collegiate careers, both academically and athletically, and we are honored to be able to reward that hard work and dedication with these scholarships."
"We are honored to be able to help support the student-athletes of the South Atlantic Conference," Peter Ginnegar, Senior Vice President of BMI stated. "We know that the cost of higher education can be difficult to manage, but we hope these scholarships will allow these deserving student-athletes the opportunity to complete their degrees."
Langheim, a senior from Suwanee, Ga., was a four-year member of the Lions' softball team as a catcher. She finished the 2022 season batting .316 with 10 home runs, 16 RBIs, 15 runs scored, four doubles, a .379 on-base percentage, and a .763 slugging percentage.
A business administration major with a data analytics minor, Langheim completed her undergraduate course work with a 3.903 GPA graduating with honors. A member of the Mars Hill and NCAA Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committees, as well as a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, Langheim will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall to complete a Master of Science in Business Analytics. She hopes to pursue a career in intercollegiate athletics following graduate school, using her analytic skills to assist institutions in the ever-changing collegiate landscape.
The BMI postgraduate scholarships are awarded to SAC student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and have completed their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. Both Langheim and Cantrell will receive a one-time, non-renewable scholarship of $2,000 toward the graduate school of their choice.
