HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team lost 3-0 to Lenoir-Rhyne in South Atlantic Conference action at Moretz Sports Athletic Complex. Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 6-3-1 and 3-2 in the league while Mars Hill falls to 2-6-1 and 1-4-1.
Lenoir-Rhyne took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute as Mitch Botfield scored his first goal of the season off of a Leon Mueller-Wiesen free kick. The Bears added to their lead just over two minutes into the second half as DeJean Charlton headed in a Mueller-Wiesen corner kick. Daniel Williams capped the scoring with a goal at the 73:32 mark.
L-R held a 19-11 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Zach King made seven saves for the Bears while Connor Talbot made three saves for the Lions.
Mars Hill travels to Queens on Saturday night for a 7:30 p.m. match.
