Women's Soccer Loses at King
Mars Hill’s women’ soccer team lost on the road at King Saturday evening 4-3 at Parks Field. Breona Tate scored three goals in the contest, her career high.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Mars Hill's women' soccer team lost on the road at King Saturday evening 4-3 at Parks Field. Breona Tate scored three goals in the contest, her career high. The Lions fell to 0-2, while the Tornado improved to 1-1 on the season.
Tate gave the Lions an early lead scoring on an unassisted breakaway just 2:47 into the match. Catherine Walsh tied the contest at the 14:30 mark when she scored from a cross by Lindsey Curtis. Nineteen seconds later (14:49), Tate gave Mars Hill a 2-1 advantage when she scored off a pass from Julia Johnson. Miranda Smith knotted the match at 2-all in the 27th minute scoring an unassisted goal. The teams would carry that score into the intermission.
Five minutes into the second half (50:05), Kendyl Baird scored off a free kick to give the Tornado a 3-2 lead. The ball was sent in by Miranda Smith.
Kara Garrett scored what would later prove to be the match winner in the 83rd minute. The goal was scored off a long pass into the box.
Tate recorded her third goal of the match at the 85:21 mark to cut the deficit to 4-3 but that was as close as the Lions would get. Tate's final goal was unassisted.
Mars Hill outshot King, 12-9 in the match. Kaitlyn Danglemaler played all 90 minutes in goal for Mars Hill and made four saves. Nicole Dagher also played the entire match in the net for King and made three saves.
Mars Hill will host Converse on Wednesday, September 7. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
