HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Mars Hill defeated Coker College 1-0 Saturday evening on the road in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action. The Lions improved to 3-5-1 overall and 2-3 in the league. Mars Hill is on a three-game winning streak. The Cobras fell to 2-5 on the season, 1-4 in the SAC.
Aleonya Hunter recorded the only goal in the contest at the 20:24 mark when she found the back of the net scoring off a rebound. Breona Tate sent the ball in that earned her the assist on the match winning score.
Mars Hill edged the Cobras in shots, 11-10. Maslyn Greene played all 90 minutes in goal to pick up her second shutout of the season. Greene made five saves in the win. Ashton Knopf also played the entire match in the net for Coker and made four saves.
The Lions will host SAC for Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, October 5. The match is slated to begin in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium at 5 p.m.
