Kennedy nets hat-trick versus Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (2-9, 0-5 SAC) was defeated by Coker (6-3, 3-1 SAC) by a score of 9-7 Saturday afternoon.
The Cobras led 2-0 after the first quarter, both scored by Jackson Duke and assisted by Ashton Carners. Coker entered the half up 4-1 after 30 minutes of play, outscoring Mars Hill 2-1 in the second. George Yanssens scored the lone Mars Hill goal of the half.
Trevor Kennedy scored two goals in just over 30 seconds to open the scoring in the third quarter. Coker struck twice in the final eight minutes to enter the final frame up 6-3.
After allowing the first goal of the quarter to go down four, Mars hill rallied to score three straight to pull within one. Austin Stroud, Cole Ross, and Yanssens all scored within a 1:18 period. Two late goals by the Cobras reestablished the three-goal lead with 3:21 remaining.
With less than a minute remaining in the contest, Kennedy scored his third goal of the contest, netting the hat-trick.
Sean Moran led Coker with three points (2g, 1a). Kennedy (3g) and Stroud (1g, 2a) led the Lions with three points apiece.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, March 25 when they take on Wingate on the road. The contest is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
