Mars Hill roars past Malone at home
Eleven different Lions scored in their first home win of the season.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-2) defeated Malone (1-2) by a score of 20-8 Saturday afternoon inside Meares Stadium.
Mars Hill led 5-2 after the first 15 minutes of play. Sam Arendt netted two goals while Brandon Woodward had a goal and an assist in the frame. Josh McCallion and Austin Stroud each scored for Mars Hill.
In the second, the Lions put up another six goals, led by Stroud's two. Arendt completed his hat-trick bid with less than six minutes left in the half. Hayden Sutherland and Aiden Fera scored, along with Woodward tallying his second of the game.
Stroud, Arendt, and Jimmy Erickson scored the Lions' goals in the third and capping off a dominant win, Mars Hill scored six in the final 15 minutes.
Netting their first of the game in the final frame was Jake Lynch, Luke Moore, Cole Ross, and Cross McKinney.
Stroud (5g, 1a) and Arendt (4g, 2a) led all players with six points apiece. Woodward ended the day with five points (3g, 2a).
Shane Hecht stopped 10 shots for his third straight win. Xavier Wells, in the final 15 minutes, made four saves in his season debut.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, March 1 when they open South Atlantic Conference play versus Lincoln Memorial on the road. First faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
