MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (0-2) was defeated by Montevallo (2-0) by a score of 13-5 Wednesday afternoon.
Sam Arendt opened the scoring in the first with 9:31 left in the quarter. Just over two minutes later, the Falcons went on a 4-0 run with Matthew Boas netting two goals. In the waning seconds of the quarter, Brandon Woodward cut the Montevallo lead in half.
The Falcons held Mars Hill scoreless in the second, netting five goals. Both Caden Chalut and John Spaans recorded a goal and an assist in the frame.
The teams traded goals in the third, each netting two apiece. Arendt picked up a goal and an assist while Austin Stroud scores his first of the year in his season debut. Josh McCallion scored on Arendt's second goal of the afternoon.
In the the final 15 minutes, Arendt scored the lone Mars Hill goal, capping off the hat-trick. Kobe Griffin was credited with the assist.
Arendt led all players with 11 shots on goal and led the Lions with four points (3g, 1a). Shane Hecht made a career-high 20 saves in the contest.
Mars Hill takes to the road for the first time in 2025 on Wednesday, February 12 when they face Young Harris in non-conference play. First faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
