Men's Soccer Falls to Lander

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's soccer team dropped a non-conference road contest at Lander on Tuesday, October 11. The Lions dropped to 5-7 overall, while the Bearcats improved to 8-3.
The early portion of the match was a stalemate with neither team able to gain an offensive advantage. However, that would change in the 24th minute as Lander's Conor Felstead bent the ball around the MHU keeper for a 1-0 lead. Twelve minutes later Felstead added another and Sam Lofts posted a goal with just 15 seconds remaining in the half to send Lander to the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Two more goals in the second half by Lander made the final margin of victory 5-0 in favor of the home team. The Bearcats outshot Mars Hill 13-2. Franck Lannaud and River Naisang collected the only shots for the Lions. Kristpher Wennin played all 90 minutes in goal, tallying seven saves. His record falls to 4-3 on the year.
Mars Hill will be back in action on Friday, October 14, traveling to Greenville, Tenn. to take on Tusculum. That match is slated to start at 7:30 p.m.
