Mars Hill in Seventh Place After Opening Round of Cherokee Valley Invitational
Sarah Johnson leads Mars Hill with a 78.
TRAVELERS REST, S.C.- Sarah Johnson shot a six-over-par 78 to lead Mars Hill in the opening round of the Cherokee Valley Invitational on Monday held at the par-72, 5,901-yard Cherokee Valley Golf Club.
Johnson is tied with four other golfers for eighth place. Victoria Barrett fired an 82 and is tied for 19th. Emma Lundvall shot an 83, putting her in a six player tie for 22nd. Lindsey Ball finished with an opening round 93, followed by Raven Brown with a 94. The Lions are in seventh place with a 336, two shots behind fifth place.
Julia Kaeding of Mount Olive and Grace Glaze of Queens each finished with a three-over-par 75 to tie for the lead after the first round. Mount Olive is the team leader by three strokes over Queens with an opening round 304.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
