Women's Soccer Announces Fall Schedule
MARS HILL, N.C. – Head Coach Tom Gott and the Mars Hill Women’s Soccer team have announced an 18-match schedule for the upcoming 2016 season.
MARS HILL, N.C. – Head Coach Tom Gott and the Mars Hill Women's Soccer team have announced an 18-match schedule for the upcoming 2016 season. The schedule includes five members of Conference Carolinas, two from the Peach Belt, and an 11-game South Atlantic Conference slate.
The Lions will start their season at the friendly confines of Meares Stadium on Thursday, September 1 as they play host to USC Aiken. The Blue and Gold will hit the road for the first time on the season as they travel to Bristol, Tenn. on 9/3 to take on King University. The short road trip brings the team back home for a pair of games, 9/7 against Converse and 9/11 with Montevallo. On Wednesday, September 14, the Lions will open SAC action, traveling to Wingate, N.C. to take on the Bulldogs.
Catawba answers the bell on 9/17, making the trip to the Hill to open home conference action for the Lions. Four straight road games will begin on 9/21 versus Carson-Newman, followed by 9/24, Brevard, 9/28, Southern Wesleyan, and 10/1, Coker.
A pair of SAC contests with Lenoir-Rhyne (10/5) and Queens (10/7) capped off by a meeting with Conference Carolinas foe, Emmanuel (10/12), highlight a season-long three-game home stand. Mars Hill will travel to Tusculum on 10/15 before returning home to face Lincoln Memorial and Newberry on October 19 & 22, respectively.
Two games on the road, North Greenville (10/25) and Anderson (10/29), will finish out the regular season and lead into the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The first round will be at the site of the higher seed on Tuesday, November 1 before heading to Rock Hill, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on November 4 & 6.
