Women's Soccer Falls to Lenoir-Rhyne
The Lions lost to Lenoir-Rhyne 3-1 in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lions lost to Lenoir-Rhyne 3-1 in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 3-6-1 overall and 2-4 in the league. The Bears improved to 7-2-2 on the season, 4-1-1 in the SAC.
Jessica Feronti recorded the first goal of the match at the 9:48 mark when she found the back of the net from around 30 yards out. That was all the scoring the first half would see.
Mars Hill had a chance to tie the contest in the 68th minute but L-R keeper Andrea Leano was able to save the Lions' penalty kick. Just over two minutes later, Abby Mills knotted the contest at 1-all when she scored from 15 yards out. Breona Tate provided the assist on Mills score.
Sarah Pullman scored the match winner at the 85:43 mark off a cross from Kendall Smith. Abigael McGarel added an insurance goal three minutes later (88:37) to make the final tally 3-1 in favor of the visitors. Aqsa Mushtaq recorded the assist on McGarel's goal.
Lenoir-Rhyne outshot the Lions, 25-5. The Bears had eight corner kicks opposed to the Lions who had two corner kicks. Maslyn Greene played 90 minutes in goal for Mars Hill and made a season high 12 saves. Leano also played the entire match in the net for the Bears and made two saves.
Mars Hill will host Queens on Friday, October 7. Match time is set for a 5 p.m. start.
