MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lions dropped a 2-0 decision to Queens University in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Friday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 3-7-1 overall and 2-5 in the league. Queens improved to 6-5 on the season, 3-4 in the SAC.
Kathy Fisher scored the first goal in the match at the 19:26 mark off a cross from Thea Mallett. The teams carried that score into the intermission.
Alana Jefferson added an insurance goal in the 70th minute finding the back of the net on a long shot after a quick touch from Mariah Lewis. That was all the scoring the match would see.
Queens outshot the Lions, 21-4. Corner kicks were even at three apiece. Maslyn Greene played 90 minutes in goal for Mars Hill and made five saves. Rachel Quest also played the entire match in the net for the Royals.
Mars Hill will host Emmanuel on Wednesday, October 12. Match time is set for a 7 p.m. start.
