MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (2-0) defeated Converse (0-1-1) by a score of 1-0 Wednesday night in their 2023 home opener.
After a scoreless first half that saw the Lions outshot 4-3, Mars Hill broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 84th minute off of Riley Nash's first goal of the season.

Carla Humera led the Lions with three shots while Nash led the team with two shots on goal.
Camryn Miller made eight saves for her second consecutive shutout.
The Lions open up South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, September 9 when they face Coker on the road. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
