MHU earns 1-1 draw with Anderson

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (3-4-4, 1-4-3 SAC) drew 1-1 with Anderson (6-3-2, 5-1-2 SAC) Wednesday night.

Trailing 1-0 entering the final 15 minutes of play, the Lions knotted the contest at one. Anise Mahathirath's cross was tucked inside the back post by the uncovered Alyssa Kuhl. Both players earning their first collegiate points.

Moments later, an Anderson header was fended off by Camryn Miller and cleared out by the Lions' defense, preserving the draw. Later in the frame, Carla Humera's shot bounced off the right elbow of the goal, nearly putting the Lions up 2-1.

Anderson opened the scoring in the 41st minute. A corner attempt from Kaitlyn Gregory bounced around the Lions' goal line before Kylie Swanson tapped the ball home for her second of the year. 

The Trojans outshot Mars Hill 19-8 in the contest as Camryn Woods led all players with four shots. Zoie Steinkamp led the Lions with three shot attempts.

Miller made five saves in the contest.

Mars Hill travels to Emory & Henry on Sunday, October 15. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
