
Crusaders defeat Lions in non-conference play

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's tennis team (2-6) fell to Belmont Abbey (1-0) by a score of 6-1 in non-conference play Saturday afternoon.
Despite Evan Lake and Ines Rodriguez taking the opening doubles contest, the Crusaders rallied to take the next two and earn the 1-0 advantage heading into singles competition.
The Crusaders went on to win 5-of-6 singles matches to come away with the 6-1 win over the Lions for their first of the season. Victoria Franklin picked up the lone singles' victory, defeating Laura Seib in straight sets, both by marks of 6-3.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, February 19 when they take to the road, squaring off against Lees-McRae. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
