Volleyball Announces 29-Game Slate
MARS HILL, N.C. – Head Coach Tony Fontanelle and the Mars Hill Women’s Volleyball have announced a competitive schedule for the upcoming 2016 season.
MARS HILL, N.C. – Head Coach Tony Fontanelle and the Mars Hill Women's Volleyball team have announced a competitive schedule for the upcoming 2016 season. The 29-game slate includes six contests against members of the Peach Belt Conference, one from Conference Carolinas, and a grueling 22 matches within the South Atlantic Conference.
The Lions will kick start the season at the Columbus State Tournament on Friday, September 2-3. The first game will be against the host Cougars, followed by a pair of matches on Saturday versus Armstrong State and Emmanuel.
After a six-day break in the action, Mars Hill will jump straight into conference action, traveling to Carson-Newman on 9/9 and Tusculum on 9/13. The Blue and Gold will make their home debut on 9/16, playing host to Lenoir-Rhyne before welcoming Brevard to Stanford Arena on 9/17. Once again the team will hit the road for a pair of games, on 9/20 they will be at Lincoln Memorial and 9/23 at Catawba. One day later, 9/24, Queens will make the trip to the Hill for a match.
Newberry will host the Lions on 9/30 and then the team travels to Anderson on 10/4 before returning home for a brief home stand against Wingate on 10/7. A trip to Coker on 10/8 leads into the midseason Peach Belt Crossover hosted by Tusculum University on 10/14-10/15. The first two days of action the Lions will try their luck against Georgia College and USC Aiken before wrapping up the weekend with a pair of games against Augusta and Lander.
Tusculum will come to Mars Hill on 10/18 and the Lions will be on the road again, this time to take on L-R (10/21) and Brevard (10/22). Lincoln Memorial and Catawba make a visit to Chambers Gymnasium on 10/25 and 10/28, respectively. A trip up Interstate 85 to Queens on 10/29 will lead into a three-game home stand, beginning with Carson-Newman (11/1), Newberry (11/4), and Anderson (11/5). The final two regular season games will be on the road, 11/11 against Wingate and 11/12 at Coker.
The South Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament will be held on Friday, November 18-20.
