Hochstetler's Big Day Leads Lions to Third Straight Win
BREVARD, N.C. – Lauren Hochstetler produced a team-high of 19 kills to go along with 27 digs to record her ninth double-double on the season and lead the Mars Hill women’s volleyball team to its third straight win.

The Lions improved to 6-15 overall and 5-9 in the conference with a five-set win (25-21, 21-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-13) over Brevard, who dropped to 5-18 overall and 4-12 in the SAC.
Rebecca Butler added 15 kills and Sally Anne Johnson collected 12 kills while hitting .435 for the match. Maddie Spurgeon collected a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Sara Fahrenbrook, who just set a season-high in assists with 50 one night ago, produced a new best with 60 against the Tornado. Victoria Kaiser anchored a strong defense with a game-high 33 digs.
After trading the initial 10 points of set one, Brevard built a slight lead at 10-8, but the Lions used a 5-0 run to regain the advantage at 13-10. The set took a turn for the even the rest of the way until MHU turned a 21-21 frame into a 25-21 set win.
Brevard regained composure and took the next two sets from the Lions by scores of 25-21 and 25-18 to take a 2-1 match lead.
However, Mars Hill showed how resilient it could be by bouncing back in set four. The Lions raced out to a 10-3 lead and never looked back on their way to a 25-21 win. In the fifth and final set looked primed to take the match, jumping on the Lions early to the tune of 7-2.
Once again the Lions showed tenacity and reeled off 10 of the next 15 points to knot the set at 12-all. Brevard took a one-point lead at 13-12, but an attack error from BC sandwiched between kills form Spurgeon and Johnson capped off a 3-0 spurt that earned the Lions the set and match.
The Lions will return to the friendly confines of Stanford Arena on Tuesday, October 25 as they host Lincoln Memorial. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
