
Goddard ties career-high in Lions' 3-1 win over Catawba
The Mars Hill volleyball team (14-7, 6-6 SAC) defeated Catawba (8-8, 5-5 SAC) in four sets (23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-18) on the road Saturday evening.
SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (14-7, 6-6 SAC) defeated Catawba (8-8, 5-5 SAC) in four sets (23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-18) on the road Saturday evening.
Sarah Goddard recorded a game-high 17 kills, tying her career-best for most in a match. She also recorded 17 versus Catawba on November 1, 2019 on the road.
Catawba took the opening set, hitting a game-high .311 with 18 kills on 45 attempts. The Lions hit .222 in the closely contested frame. In the second, the Lions were able to tie the match at one by hitting a team-high .267. While both team's hitting percentages dipped in the third set, Mars Hill was able to hit over .200 for the third time on the night, recording 13 kills on 37 attempts in the final stanza.
The Lions hit .208 to Catawba's .186 and collected nine service aces on the night, four coming from the serve of Jana Cuk. The Indians committed seven service errors and nine receiving errors.

Mars Hill returns to the court on Friday, October 22 when they kickoff the PBC/SAC Crossover. The Lions will face Georgia College at 12 p.m. and then take on Augusta at 6 p.m.
