Martins named to D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team, AVCA Honorable Mention

Mars Hill senior libero Ully Martins was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region Second Team, as released Wednesday afternoon.

WINGATE, N.C. - Mars Hill senior libero Ully Martins was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region Second Team and an AVCA Honorable Mention, as released Wednesday afternoon.

Martins, a native of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, destroyed her previous career-highs, recording 765 digs, setting the Mars Hill record for most in a single season. That total places her secnd in Division II, trailing first by just three digs. Her 6.32 digs per set also lead the SAC by .65 per set and ranks sixth best in the country. She was named the statistical champion and helped lead the Lions to being the statistical champions as a team in digs per set with 20.21; also second in the country. Martins set the MHU record for most career digs on November 5 versus Wingate and currently sits at 2,425. Martins added 159 assists, 24 aces, and six kills.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
