Lions felled by Lenoir-Rhyne
The Mars Hill women’s basketball team (4-6, 1-2 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (6-4, 2-1 SAC) by a score of 68-49 Wednesday evening.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's basketball team (4-6, 1-2 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (6-4, 2-1 SAC) by a score of 68-49 Wednesday evening.
The Bears outscored the Lions 16-5 in the first quarter with Blaikley Crooks leading all players with six points. In the second, Lenoir-Rhyne continued to dictate play offensively, putting up another 14 points. Crooks led all players at the half with 10 points.
Halei Gillis led the Lions with four points followed by three from Tateyoina Harris.
In the third, the Lions outscored the Bears 19-17. Harris led the Lions with seven points while Maddie Gillie added three. Emily Harman led all players, netting 11 points.
The fourth quarter saw the teams combine for 40 points as Lenoir-Rhyne outscored the Lions 21-19. Both Harman and Crooks eclipsed the 20-point mark, netting 21 and 20, respectively. Gillie scored six in the fourth to lead the Lions.
Harman led all players with her 21 points. Harris led the Lions with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the double-double. Gillie ended the night with 11 points.
Mars Hill travels to Puerto Rico on Saturday, December 16 when they partake in the Puerto Rico Classic. Tipoff against P.R. Mayaguez is set for 4 p.m.
