Mars Hill places 7th at Appalachian State
The Mars Hill women’s track and field team placed seventh at the Appalachian Open Indoor Track Meet Saturday afternoon. The Lions finished with 22 points overall.
BOONE, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's track and field team placed seventh at the Appalachian Open Indoor Track Meet Saturday afternoon. The Lions finished with 22 points overall.
Christine Foresha earned three points for Mars Hill with her sixth place finish in the 300 meter dash with a time of 44.08. With a fourth place finish in the 3000 meter run, Nyla Feeney picked up five points. Feeney turned in an 11:28.31 performance. The mark set a new personal record for Feeney by 20 seconds. Kaleigh Jackson placed eighth in the 3000 meter, earning another two points for the Lions.
Transitioning to field events, freshman Cameron Saxon placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.05m (16'7") to earn four more points for Mars Hill. She placed first out of all Division II athletes in her first collegiate final. Shaniqua Stevens earned the most points out of any Lion on the day with her second place finish in the triple jump. Stevens collected eight team points with a distance of 10.85m (35'7.25") and was the top finisher for all DII competitors. Tiffany Holloway finished 11th in the shot put with a mark of 11.35m (37'3"), just four inches off of setting a Mars Hill school record.
