Lions land in seventh after day one of SAC Championships
The Mars Hill women's track and field team ended Thursday in seventh place at the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championships.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's track and field team ended Thursday in seventh place at the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championships.
After six scored events, the Lions posted five points. They are tied with Tusculum and sit one point behind Catawba for sixth place.
Shahnika Williams earned a team-high three points with a sixth place finish in the long jump. Williams recorded a distance of 5.35m (17'6.75").
Tiffany Holloway earned one point for the Lions, placing eighth in the javelin throw with a mark of 33.58m (110'2").
In the 10,000 meter run, Nyla Feeney picked up the final Mars Hill point of the day, placing eighth with a time of 41:57.19.
Cameron Saxon completed four of the seven events in the heptathlon on day one of the championships. She placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.76 and placed third in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.43m (4'8.25"). Saxon finished fifth and seventh in the shot put and 200 meter dash, respectively. She recorded a distance of 8.19m (26'10.5") and ran a time of 28.39.
