Mars Hill shows strongly at Buccaneer Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Shahnika Williams' sixth place finish in the women's long jump highlighted the Mars Hill women's indoor track and field action after Day One of the Buccaneer Invitational.
Williams, who placed sixth in her preliminary flight, recorded a mark of 5.62m (18'5.25") in the finals to place in the top ten. Williams also took part in the 60 meter dash, placing fourth in her preliminary heat with a time of 8.34. Cameron Saxon finished fourth in her long jump flight and 23rd in the finals.
Christine Foresha and Ayana Dennis won their respective 400 meter dash heats with times of 61.53 and 67.40, respectively. Arriel Smith placed sixth in her preliminary heat. Dennis and Smith placed fifth in their individual heats for the 200 meter yard dash with times of 29.19 and 28.77, respectively.
In the women's distance medley, the Lions placed 13th out of 15 teams. The quartet of Rachel Strickland, Arriel Smith, Kayleigh Jackson and Sydney Britt put together a time of 15:04.82.
