Lions conclude SAC Championships in eighth
The Mars Hill women's indoor track and field team placed eighth out of the 11 teams at the South Atlantic Conference Championships held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's indoor track and field team placed eighth out of the 11 teams at the South Atlantic Conference Championships held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Christine Foresha placed 15th overall in the 200 meter race with a time of 27.01. Arriel Smith and A'yana Dennis placed 27th and 29th, respectively. Foresha earned two points for the Lions with a seventh place finish in the 400 meter final with a time of 1:01.94.
Competing in the 3000 meter finals, Nyla Feeney recorded a time of 11:21.40 for a 15th place finish.
In the 4 x 400 relay, Mars Hill placed ninth with the group of Dennis, Foresha, Sydney Britt and Delaney Taylor. Britt, Feeney, Smith and Rachel Strickland finished 10th in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:38.80.
Jordan Bair and Delaney Taylor finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault to earn Mars Hill a combined five points. Bair set a mark of 3.12m (10'2.75") with Taylor recording 2.97m (9'9").
In the long jump, Shahnika Williams jumped 5.20m (17'0.75"), good enough for fifth place and four points for the Lions. Shaniqua Stevens added two more points to the Lions total with a seventh place finish in the triple jump.
With a mark of 12.30m (40'4.25"), Tiffany Holloway placed fourth overall in the shot put and racked up another five points for Mars Hill in the standings.
Mars Hill finished the championships with 18 points.
