Lions comeback bid falls short against Lee
The Lions fell to the Lee University Flames Saturday morning, 3-1 (17-25, 23-25, 25-22, 21-25) to start Day Two of the Lincoln Memorial University Tournament. Sally Anne Johnson led the team with eleven kills.
HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Lions fell to the Lee University Flames Saturday morning, 3-1 (17-25, 23-25, 25-22, 21-25) to start Day Two of the Lincoln Memorial University Tournament. Sally Anne Johnson led the team with eleven kills.
After falling behind 2-0 to the Flames, the Lions roared back in the third game. A solid team effort, paced by Lauren Hochstetler's four kills, began the comeback bid as the Lions came away with a 25-22 score to force a fourth game.
A back-and-forth effort between both squads in the final game saw the Flames close out the contest with an 8-4 run.
The Flames' Silvia Sartori and Alex Reuter led all players with 17 kills each. Sartori also added 23 digs and one ace.
Maddie Spurgeon continued her strong tournament with an additional ten kills, while Hochstetler and Rebecca Butler contributed nine kills apiece. Sarah Pasour led all players with 24 assists.
Mars Hill concludes the LMU Tournament with a 2 p.m. match versus King.
