Lions downed by Carson-Newman in SAC doubleheader
The Mars Hill baseball team (5-12, 3-3 SAC) dropped both games versus Carson-Newman (13-5, 4-2 SAC) by scores of 10-7 and 7-1 Saturday afternoon on the road.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (5-12, 3-3 SAC) dropped both games versus Carson-Newman (13-5, 4-2 SAC) by scores of 10-7 and 7-1 Saturday afternoon on the road.
GAME ONE: C-N 10, MHU 7
The Eagles plated five runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by Chris Caldwell's two-run triple to left field. In the bottom of the third, Charlie Brown recorded a RBI single to put the Eagles up by six after three.
In the fourth, Mike Wroth extended the lead to nine with a three-run home run that plated Gunnar Ricketts and Tyler Thompson. Caldwell added a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh for their 10th run.
Mars Hill began their comeback bid in the top of the ninth, scoring seven runs. Austin Purser kicked it off with a RBI single to right field, plating Cody Cline. Later in the frame, down 10-2, Austin Treadway plated two with a single to center field that saw Hunter Holland and Purser cross home. Jacob Legleiter followed suit with a two-run single of his own that scored Cal Hubbard and Treadway. Kameron Reynolds scored later on a wild pitch.
Wroth led all players with two hits and four RBI in the contest. Caldwell added three RBI. Both Treadway and Legleiter posted two RBI apiece.
GAME TWO: C-N 7, MHU 1
The Eagles Micahel Wroth opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run. Mars Hill cut the deficit in half off of a Carson-Newman error that saw Austin Treadway score.
Carson-Newman scored five unanswered beginning with a two-run third inning that saw back-to-back RBI doubles off the bats of Charlie Brown and Tyler Thompson. The Eagles scored twice in the sixth, highlighted by another Wroth home run.
Wroth went 2-of-3 from the plate with three RBI on the game. Treadway and Jordan Lathe recorded the lone Lions' hits.
Mars Hill returns home on Tuesday, March 3 to host King. First pitch at Henderson Field is scheduled for 2 p.m.
