HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (10-28, 4-17 SAC) was swept by Lenoir-Rhyne (31-6, 16-5 SAC) this weekend in South Atlantic Confernence series action.
GAME ONE: L-R 11, MHU 6
The Bears took game one by a score of 11-6 Friday evening.
Cole Stanford led the Bears with three hits while a quartet of Bears added two hits apiece. Sal Carricato led all players with three RBI.
Elec Yount led Mars Hill with three hits while Peyton Starkey, Terick Bumgarner, and Jackson Jones each added two hites apiece. Bumgarner and Jones each posted a team-high two RBI apiece in the series opener.
GAME TWO: L-R 14, MHU 2 - 7 Innings
Lenoir-Rhyne's offense was on full display in game two, plating 14 runs in their series clinching win.
Joseph Mozingo led all players with four RBI, followed by three off the bat of Cole Stanford. They, along with Mackenzie Wainwright led the team with two hits apiece.
Zachary Cimino led Mars Hill with two hits and driving in one. Carter Potts opened the scoring in the top of the second with a RBI single.
GAME THREE: L-R 9, MHU 3
The Bears used a five-run fourth inning to complete the series sweep.
Four Bears recorded two hits apiece, highlighted by Nathaneal Keeter, who plated two runs.
Walker Fox led the Lions with two hits and two RBI while Peyton Starkey picked up the other Lions' RBI on the day.
Mars Hill returns home to Don Henderson Field on Tuesday, April 8 when they host Southern Wesleyan in non-conference play. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
