Lions Drop Conference Contest at Queens
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill lacrosse team dropped a South Atlantic Conference game to Queens University on Saturday, March 12. The Royals used a late offensive surge to defeat the Lions 11-5.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill lacrosse team dropped a South Atlantic Conference game to Queens University on Saturday, March 12. The Royals used a late offensive surge to defeat the Lions 11-5. Mars Hill falls to 0-6 overall and 0-2 within the SAC. Queens improves to 6-2, 2-0.
QU got on the board just one minute into the contest as Gavin Perry ripped his eighth goal of the season. However, Josh Bryers assisted on back-to-back goals from Jake Trafton and Austin Bouchard to give the Lions a 2-1 lead with just over nine minutes remaining in the opening quarter.
The Royals tallied four goals over the next 15 minutes to open up a 5-2 lead. A.J. Seip blasted home his 12th score of the season just before the half to send the Blue and Gold into the locker room trailing 5-3.
Unfortunately, Queens came out of the intermission with five consecutive scores to take control of the game at 10-3 with five and a half left in the third period. Bryers took a pass Seip and placed it into the back of the net at the 4:59 mark of the third to narrow the gap to 10-4. The fourth period saw a single goal from Queens and one from the Lions' Dima Ferriera to close out the game with the Royals prevailing 11-5.
Queens outshot the Lions on the afternoon by a wide margin of 44-18. The center "X" spot saw the Blue and Gold collect 8-of-20 face offs. Ferriera took a team-high five shots followed by Seip's four. Ryan Kearney managed to collect 15 saves between the pipes.
The Lions will return to action on Saturday, March 19 as they play host to SAC foe Catawba. That match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
