Lions finish eighth at SAC Championships
The Mars Hill men's track and field team finished the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championships in eighth place on Friday afternoon.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's track and field team finished the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championships in eighth place on Friday afternoon.
The team collected 32 points over the 21 events scored during the two-day meet. They entered day two with 14 points.
Bryan Smith earned two points with a seventh place finish in the triple jump, recording a distance of 12.90m (42'4").
In the 400 meter dash, Nicholas Izquierdo placed seventh to earn another two points for Mars Hill. He ran a time of 50.21. Cameron France picked up three points with a sixth place finish in the 200 meter dash, running a time of 22.10.
The quartet of Izquierdo, France, Shane Ward and Malik Frost placed seventh in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 42.53. They earned two points for the Lions.
In the 4x400 meter relay, Izquierdo, David Elkins, Ethan Murray and Jared Stanley placed sixth to earn three more points on the day. They turned in a time of 3:26.32.
Corey Whaley earned a team-high six points for his third place finish in the decathlon. He accumulated 4,850 points over the ten events.
