MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (1-1) was defeated by Montevallo (2-2) by a score of 15-6 Sunday afternoon.
Chandler Werner opened the scoring 3:40 into the first quarter. The goal was assisted by Addison Hellwig.
The Falcons reeled off six straight goals to end the first up 6-1. Ellery Shearer and Claire Withington each struck twice. Montevallo continued to roll in the second, outscoring Mars Hill 6-0 to lead 12-1 after 30 minutes of play.
Mars Hill, in the third quarter, netted four of the five goals scored with Haley Stallings tallying twice. Hellwig and Madison Welch scored the other two goals. In the final 15 minutes of play, Abby Cleveland scored the Lions' lone goal.
Withington led all players with five points (4g, 1a). Stallings (2g) and Hellwig (1g, 1a) led the Lions with two points apiece.
Mars Hill takes to the road for the first time in the 2025 campaign when they face Emmanuel on Saturday, February 22. First draw is set for 1 p.m.
