Mars Hill opens SAC play on road versus Lenoir-Rhyne
The Mars Hill women's soccer team (0-4-1, 0-1 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (5-0-0, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 1-0 Wednesday night on the road to open South Atlantic Conference play.

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (0-4-1, 0-1 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (5-0-0, 1-0 SAC) by a score of 1-0 Wednesday night on the road to open South Atlantic Conference play.
Neither team scored in the first 45 minutes of play, however, Lenoir-Rhyne had the decisive 11-3 shots on goal advantage. They continued to pressure the Lions' defense and in the 54th minute, were able to break through as Aqsa Mushtaq put the Bears up 1-0.
The Bears' defense held firm for the remainder of the contest, allowing the Lions only one shot on goal in the second half.
Sanne Martinsen led the Lions with two shots on the night. Both Samantha Pyle and Mikayla Johnson added one shot apiece.
In her first career start, Mars Hill goalkeeper Victoria Forren made 12 saves on the night.
The Lions return to the pitch on Saturday, September 21st as they take on Catawba on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
