Martinsen scores lone goal in contest versus King

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-8-1) was defeated in double overtime versus King (3-5) in non-conference action Wednesday night.
Erin Peters completed the comeback win for the Tornado in the second overtime frame as she tucked the ball behind Clare Witt from inside the crease. Jaida Souvannaraj picked up the assist.
Souvannaraj knotted the game up at one with 45 seconds to play in the contest, taking advantage of a loose ball in the box to net her first of the season.
The Lions struck first in the 19th minute as Sanne Martinsen recorded her sixth goal of the season off of a free kick just outside the box. Martinsen drove the ball low to Erin Foster's right, just inside the near post.
Mars Hill outshot the Tornado 18-8 with Martinsen leading the way, recording eight on the night. The Lions return to South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday afternoon as they host the Anderson Trojans at 1 p.m. inside Meares Stadium.
