Lions open 2025 slate strong at Finn Pincus Invitational
SALEM, Va. - The Mars Hill women's indoor track & field team traveled to Salem, Virginia to compete in the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. School records broken, event wins, and personal bests were set by several Lions.
Day 1 Highlights
Haley Eddinger set two new personal bests in pole vault, breaking the MHU Indoor Pole Vault Record along the way with a vault of 3.5m (11' 5.75"). Eddinger placed fourth overall in the event and currently ranks first in South Atlantic Conference standings.
Simone Giggetts advanced to the finals in the 60m Hurdles after winning her heat with a time of 9.33s. Giggetts currently ranks seventh overall in the South Atlantic Conference.
Additional Highlights:
Sophie Ratcliff captured an event win in the 3000m run. Ratcliff finished with a personal best time of 10:29.1. Grace Adams placed sixth overall in the 3000m with a time of 11:09.92. Fernanda Osuna established a personal best in the 3000m with a time of 11:58.5. Osuna finished 19th overall.
Lillie Goodman established a new personal best in the 60m Hurdles, finishing with in a time of 12.25s.
Jimena Montero and Destyni Hastings competed in the 60m dash. Montero placed 42nd overall with a time of 8.74s. Hastings, in her first collegiate track meet, placed 50th overall with a time of 8.88s.
Day 2 Highlights
Sophie Ratcliff established a new MHU record for the Mile, crossing the finish line in a time of 5:16.19. Ratcliff placed third overall. Ratcliff finished out her weekend with a second place finish in the 5000m run. Ratcliff currently ranks fourth overall in the South Atlantic Conference in the Mile, ninth in the 5000m and 3000m.
Cierra Williams earned a trip to the finals in Shot Put, finishing ninth overall with a personal best throw of 11.13m (36' 6.25"). Williams currently ranks seventh overall in South Atlantic Conference standings.
Additional Highlights:
Fernanda Osuna established a personal best in the 1000m run with a time of 3:33.18.
Ally Boerger established a personal best in the 1000m run with a time of 3:44.26.
Jenna Grabowski established a personal best in the 1000m run with a time of 3:50.91.
Grace Adams set a personal best in the 5000m run with a time of 19:27.66. Adams finished third overall.
Simone Giggetts placed seventh overall in the finals of the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.68s.
Amaya Casiano placed 24th in Long Jump with a mark of 4.54m
Maya Adams placed 29th in Long Jump with a distance of 4.28m
La'Miya Blake placed 17th in Shot Put with a throw of 10.24m (33' 7.25")
Lindsey Jenkins competed in the 400m sprint, finishing 29th with a time of 107.88.
The Lions return to Roanoke College on January 31st-February 1st to compete in the Bast Creggar Multi.
