MHU opens outdoor season at Montreat Open
BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's outdoor track & field team traveled a short way down the road to Black Mountain, North Carolina to compete in the Montreat Open hosted by Montreat College. The two-day meet took place Friday, March 21st-Saturday, March 22nd. A new school record, several event winners and a multitude of personal bests set this past weekend.
New School Record
Cierra Williams broke her own school record in Discus with a monster throw of 42.04m (137-11). Williams currently ranks 1st in South Atlantic Conference Standings.
Event Winners
Cierra Williams won both Discus (42.04m) and Shot Put. Williams placed 1st in Shot Put with a throw of 11.35m (37-03).
Alina Mueller won Javelin with a personal best throw of 32.57m (106-10). Mueller ranks 3rd overall in South Atlantic Conference Standings.
Haley Eddinger won Pole Vault with a vault of 3.35m. This vault marks a outdoor best for Eddinger and currently ranks her 3rd in conference standings.
Personal Bests in the Field
La'Miya Blake set a new personal best in Discus with a throw of 35.14m (115-03). Blake placed 4th overall in the event. Blake had a strong performance in Shot Put as well, placing 3rd overall with a throw of 10.48m (34-4.75).
Kayla Rice threw a personal best 31.38m (102-11) in the Hammer Throw. Rice placed 11th overall.
Jimena Montero established a collegiate best in Javelin with a throw of 23.06m. Montero placed 8th overall.
Maya Adams jumped a collegiate best 4.54m in Long Jump. Adams placed 9th overall.
Personal Bests on the Track
Alina Mueller established a personal best on the track in the 400m hurdles. Mueller placed 3rd overall with a time of 1:10.32.
Natalee Powers placed 5th in the 1500m run with a personal best time of 5:03.23.
Lola Korth placed 12th in the 1500m run with a personal best time of 5:23.77.
Fernanda Osuna placed 15th in the 1500m run with a personal best time of 5:40.75.
Ally Boeger placed 10th in the 5000m run with a personal best time of 20:24.56.
Jimena Montero established a new collegiate best in the 200m sprint, finishing with a time of 28.85s. Montero placed 9th overall and 2nd in her heat.
