
Several records broken at Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational
SALEM, Va. - The Mars Hill women's indoor track & field team traveled to Salem, Virginia to compete in the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational. The meet took place over a two-day period: Friday, January 31st- Saturday, February 1st.
Seventeen Lions competed for the women. Sophie Ratcliff and the distance squad racked up several school records. New personal bests were set by many of the ladies, and several captured top-eight finishes in their respective events.
New School Records:
Sophie Ratcliff competed in the 5000m run and 3000m run, capturing two more individual school records to go along with her Mile record from the team's previous meet. Ratcliff's new school record time of 17:57.26 in the 5000m earned her a third place finish overall in the meet. Ratcliff crossed the line first in the 3000m run with a school record time of 10:11.59. Ratcliff currently ranks sixth overall in the 5000m run in South Atlantic conference standings and 10th overall in the 3000m.
Ratcliff, along with Lindsey Jenkins, Grace Adams, and Natalee Powers broke the 20-year-old school record for the distance medley relay, finishing in a time of 13:05.03. At the moment, the ladies rank third overall in South Atlantic Conference Standings.

In the Field:
Haley Eddinger placed second overall in Pole Vault with a vault of 3.3m.
Jimena Montero placed 24th in her first collegiate Pentathlon. The Pentathlon is comprised of five events – the 60m hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, and the 800m run. Montero set a personal best in high jump with a jump of 1.33m. Montero finished the event with an overall score of 1,889 points.
La'Miya Blake placed 10th in Shot Put with a personal best throw of 10.81m.
Kayla Rice set a personal best in the Weight Throw with a throw of 11.82m. Rice placed 22nd overall.
Maya Adams placed 33rd in Long Jump with a jump of 4.45m
On the Track:
Amaya Casiano set a personal best in the 300m sprint, placing seventh overall with a time of 47.50.
Natalee Powers and Lindsey Jenkins competed in the 500m sprint. Powers placed fifth overall with a time of 1:24.88. Jenkins placed ninth with a time of 1:28.19.
Lillie Goodman matched her personal best of 12.25s in the 60m hurdles. Goodman placed 24th overall.
Grace Adams and Hannah Frazer both established personal bests in the 5000m run. Adams placed eighth overall with a time of 19:13.44. Frazer placed 11th with a time of 19:31.62.
Fernanda Osuna, Sarah McNeil, and Payton Laney competed in the 1000m run. Osuna led the way with a personal best 3:30.2. Osuna placed 17th overall. McNeil placed 21st, finishing in a time of 3:38.1. Laney placed 27th with a time of 3:56.54.
Natalee Powers, Lindsey Jenkins, Fernanda Osuna, Ally Boerger, Payton Laney all competed in the 800m run. Powers led the way for the Lion's placing 29th with a time of 2:37.12. Jenkins placed 38th with a time of 2:40.2. Osuna placed 42nd with a time of 2:41.06. Ally Boerger finished in a time of 2:46.53 placing 55th overall. Laney placed 71st with a time of 2:58.87.
Hannah Frazer and Sarah McNeil competed in the Mile run. Frazer crossed the line in a time of 5:43.81, placing 8th overall. McNeil placed 22nd overall with a time of 6:14.08.
Hannah Frazer raced in the 3000m run, finishing eighth in a new personal best time of 11:10.03.
