Richt Competes in Raycom All-Star Classic
MONTGOMERY, ALA.-- Mars Hill senior quarterback Jon Richt appeared in the 2013 Raycom College Football All-Star Classic, played Saturday afternoon at the Crampton Bowl.
Richt completed 2-of-6 passed for 35 yards and posted a quarterback rating of 82.3 for the Stripes roster. The Stripes team, coached by former NFL head coach Dan Reeves, earned a 31-3 victory over the Stars roster. The two teams were made up of some of college football's top seniors hoping to be drafted into the NFL. The game was televised on CBS Sports Network.
Richt concluded his Mars Hill career as the school's all-time leader in completions (567), attempts (1,109), yards (8,169) and touchdown passes (69). He also rushed for six touchdowns. Richt quarterbacked the Lions during their South Atlantic Conference championship season and NCAA Division II Playoff appearance in 2011.
The Stripes team was led by Purdue quarterback Robert Marve, who completed 10-of-13 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown. Missouri Western running back Michael Hill rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on just 12 carries.
The game concluded a week-long event that featured elite college football seniors participating in NFL-formatted practices. Head coaches in the game were Reeves and former NFL head coach Jim Bates. This was the first Raycome College Football All-Star Classic played.
