Tim Clifton is the longest tenured head football coach in DII, entering season 33 with the Lions
MARS HILL, N.C. - Head football coach Tim Clifton was recognized in a recent X post by D2 College Football Spotlight, showcasing his tenure with Mars Hill University.
Clifton, who became head coach in 1993, will enter his 33rd season at the helm for the Lions in the upcoming 2025 season. He has amassed a 173-156 (.524) record over 32 years, leading Mars Hill to a South Atlantic Conference championship in 2011, and back-to-back Mountain Division titles in 2022 and 2023.
