Butler medals, Lions win MHU Spring Invitational
The Mars Hill men's golf team proved victorious at the Mars Hill University Spring Invitational at Broadmoor Golf Links Tuesday afternoon. Harry Butler was the top individual performer of the tournament.
FLETCHER, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's golf team proved victorious at the Mars Hill University Spring Invitational at Broadmoor Golf Links Tuesday afternoon. Harry Butler was the top individual performer of the tournament.
Shooting a second round -1, Butler topped all golfers to claim his third victory of the season. Butler finished three strokes ahead of the second place finisher, Brevard's Austin Fisher.
"I'm very proud of Harry," Mars Hill head coach Dave Pennell said at the end of the second round.
Mars Hill had eight golfers finish inside the top 20, including Luke Challis and Callum Ritchie to tied for seventh with +7 scores overall. Nicholas Boone finished in 13th, followed by Christian Ethier's tie for 14th with Stephen Thomasson. Hunter Morrison and Levi Nelson rounded out the top Mars Hill performers.
The Lions had a 17 stroke improvement from their round one score to hold for the three stroke win over Pfeiffer.
"Extremely proud of how the teams hung in there and played," Pennell added.
