Lions roar past Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (3-2-1, 1-1 SAC) downed Tusculum (1-3-1, 0-1-1 SAC) by a score of 4-2 to wrap up their four-game road trip.
Mars Hill struck twice in both halves. Dan Roth opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Finding the Tusculum goalkeeper out of position, he lofted the ball in from around 50 yards out.
Entering the 41st minute, Sebastian Bertilsson netted his sixth of the season, tying his career high. Kevonte Willoughby-Williams fed the pass to Bertilsson in front of the net for his first point of the night.
Less than four minutes into the second half, Ignacio Alconchel scored his fourth of the campaign, getting the Pioneers on the scoresheet.
Willoughby-Williams responded in the 56th minute with his fifth goal of the season, reestablishing the two-goal advantage. Jeppe Christensen sent in the corner kick, earning the assist.
Peter Plougmand tallied his third of the year taking a feed from Tatum Cartner on the right wing and beat the Pioneer netminder in the 71st minute. Less than a minute later, Rodrigo Pascual cut the Lions' lead down to two with his first of the year.
The Lions were outshot 10-9, however, put seven of their attempts on goal compared to Tusculum's three. Willoughby-Williams and Roth each recorded three attempts and two on goal. Alonchel led the Pioneers with two attempts.
Brennan Whalen made one save for his third win of the season. Bruno De freitas stopped three in the losing effort.
Mars Hill returns to the pitch on Saturday, September 25 when they host Queens inside Meares Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
