MHU, Coker battle in SAC Championship classic; Lions fall in double OT

MATTHEWS, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (11-6-3) was defeated 2-1 in double overtime versus Coker (12-6-2) in the South Atlantic Conference Championship match.
With 4:04 remaining in the second overtime period, Markos Touroukis scored the game-winning goal as the loose ball inside the box found its way to his right foot, booting it low inside the far post for his fourth of the season.
It was the only shot of the second overtime and Coker's 18th on the night, outshooting the Lions 18-17 on the night.
Mars Hill opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Kevonte Willoughby-Williams netted his 11th of the season, blasting a shot inside the near left post from quick passes by Peter Plougmand and Sebastian Bertilsson.
Both teams traded spectacular opportunities for the remainder of the half and deep into the second. Coker's Jaques Fokam-Sandeu scored his 14th of the season to tie the game at one in the 70th minute, tying the Cobras' single-season record for most goals scored in a single campaign.
Fokam-Sandeu and Dan Roth led their respective teams with five shot attempts.
Jasper Rump made three saves in the win while Brennan Whalen made six saves in the loss.
The Lions close out their season with 11 wins, the most since the 2012 season and their first SAC Championship appearance since 2011.
