Bertilsson scores twice, Lions down Bobcats on road

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (5-4-1) defeated Lees-McRae (5-3-1) by a score of 3-2 Wednesday night on the road.
Sebastian Bertilsson scored his ninth of the season and second of the night in the 71st minute, the lone goal in the second half, to propel the Lions to their fifth victory of the season. Kevonte Willoughby-Williams picked up the assist, his third point of the night.
In the first half, the teams combined to score four goals in a span of 4:09. In the 22nd minute, Daniel Garvilla scored his second of the season. Less than a minute later, Willoughby-Williams netted his sixth of the year with Bertilsson picking up the assist.
In the 24th minute, Bertilsson scored his first of the night as Nolan McMillen was credited with an assist. In the 26th minute, Tamino Brown tied the game at two, scoring his third of the season.
The Lions outshot Lees-McRae 18-10 in the contest. Bertilsson led all players with five attempts followed by Willoughby-Williams' four.
Brennan Whalen made three saves for the win. M.J. Upchurch stopped six in the loss.
The Lions travel to Hartsville, South Carolina on Saturday, October 9 when they face Coker. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
