MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (2-2-2) was defeated by Saint Leo (1-3-2) by a score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon.
Diego Fernandez opened the scoring in the sixth minute, scoring his first career goal in the sixth minute. Following a throw in that found the head of Jorge Perez Prada, Fernandez's second chance opportunity beat the Saint Leo goalkeeper to put Mars Hill up 1-0.
In the 34th minute, Anel Rojas tied the contest with his first of the season. Sam Mitchell assisted.
Less than a minute into the second half, Saint Leo took the lead as Edor Degl'Innocenti netted his second of the season. In the 55th minute, Rojas scored his second, assisted by Degl'Innocenti.
Saint Leo outshot the Lions 10-7 with Rojas, Degl'Innocenti, and Mitchell recording two shots apiece. Braxton Robinson and Jop Bleijlevens led Mars Hill with two shots apiece.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday, September 20 when they face Tusculum on the road.
