Lions score three unanswered, rally late in win over USCA

AIKEN, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (4-6-6) defeated USC Aiken (2-10-1) by a score of 4-2 Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 2-1 with just under 11 minutes to play, Jop Bleijlevens' second of the year tied the contest up. Peter Plougmand picked up his first assist of the game.
With 2:14 to play, Plougmand netted his second of the game and 11th of the season to give the Lions their second lead of the game. Aimar Banuls, with 30 seconds remaining, scored his third of the season, adding an insurance goal for the Lions. Plougmand was credited with the assist.
Mars Hill outshot the Pacers 13-6 in the second half en route to the victory.
Plougmand opened the scoring in the 13th minute, putting home a pass from Carrick Bromage for his 10th of the season. Seven minutes later, USC Aiken tied the contest with a goal from Diego Vega.
In the 53rd minute, a Lions' penalty awarded the Pacers a penalty kick that Wynston Johnson converted, putting USC Aiken up 2-1.
Plougmand ended the night with six points (2g, 2a) and led all players with five shots. Banuls added an assist on the night, finishing the contest with three points (1g, 1a).
James Price made two saves in his fourth win of the season.
Mars Hill wraps up their home schedule on Friday, October 27 when they face Newberry. The Senior Day game is set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
