Plougmand ties school record, MHU routs EHC

EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (3-5-6, 1-3-5) defeated Emory & Henry (0-12-0, 0-8-0 SAC) by a score of 8-1 Sunday afternoon.
Peter Plougmand opened the scoring in the 24th minute, scoring his sixth of the season off of an assist from Jorge Perez Prada. Less than five minutes later, he netted his second of the contest with Diego Fernandez picking up the assist.
In the 56th minute, Plougmand netted two goals in a span of 20 seconds, putting the Lions up 4-1. Both Perez Prada and Fernandez recorded their second assists of the game.
Plougmand's four goal performance tied the Mars Hill record set by Majid Bakhtiari versus Limestone in the 1986 season.
Following Plougmand's fourth, the Lions scored four more goals in the second half with Thomas Bertelsen scoring twice, Perez Prada notching his fourth of the season, and Kai Stolp scoring his first of his career.
Mars Hill outshot Emory & Henry 40-9, including 25 second half shots. Plougmand led all players with 11 attempts and seven on target.
James Price picked up the win in just over 62 minutes of action. Both he and Logan Cassel made two saves apiece.
Mars Hill takes on Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 18 on the road at 6 p.m.
