Men's Swimming Wins Sewanee Invite
Mars Hill won the 15th annual Sewanee Invite by over 400 points
SEWANEE, TENN. - The Mars Hill men's swimming team claimed the 2015 Sewanee Invite title on Saturday as the Lions had four individual victories on Saturday. The Lions finished with 1,201.5 points with Emmanuel claiming second place with 763 points.
Mars Hill claimed the 200 freestyle relay as Vitor Goncalves, Trey Mason, Ryan Martin and Drew Rosser crossed the finish line in 1:28.72. The Lions finished second in the 200 medley relay.
Harrison Butler won the 100 backstroke ahead in 54.98, just ahead of Grant Greenhill who finished in 55.09. Butler scored a second place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:02.23). Mason was the winner in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.47 followed by Goncalves (1:50.30). Goncalves was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (22.20), with Rosser claiming third place (22.45). In the 100 freestyle, Goncalves finished in second place with a time of 48.38 seconds. Rosser finished in second place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.25.
Mars Hill claimed the first four positions in the 500 freestyle with Brett Malmstrom taking first place with a time of 5:04.14. Mason finished in second place (5:04.26), followed by Matthew Walker (5:09.51) and Jake Moore (5:10.61). Malmstrom finished in second place in the 200 butterfly (2:07.21).
Brady Rothschild won the 200 backstroke by over one second ahead as he finished in 2:17.41. David Hallberg finished in third place in the 200 individual medley (2:06.31).
Mars Hill hosts Milligan next Saturday at 6 p.m.
