Milligan Knocks Off Women's Tennis
The Mars Hill women’s tennis team suffered a tough 5-4 setback against Milligan on Saturday
MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill women's tennis team suffered a tough 5-4 setback against Milligan on Saturday in the first home match of the fall at Hart Tennis Complex. Mars Hill and Milligan are each 1-1 after today's match.
The Lions claimed two out of three doubles matches, with the pairing of Samantha Echevarria and Natalie Hilbig earning an 8-6 win at number two doubles and Jasha Geerdink and Hannah Hill prevailing 8-2 on the third doubles court.
Milligan claimed the match by winning four of six singles matches. Echevarria was a 6-1, 6-4 winner on the top singles court while Valerie Kuhn claimed a 6-1, 6-1 decision at number three singles. Two of the Lions' four singles defeats came in five sets.
Mars Hill returns to action next Sunday in a non-conference match against Newberry.
