Lions Fall to Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C.-- An offensive explosion by Limestone led the Saints to a 9-2 victory over Mars Hill Saturday afternoon at Saints field.
Benjamin Morande notched a hat trick and Thomas Keen added a pair of goals to lead Limestone to the victory. Reiss Garwood and Thomaz Freitas each scored their first goals as Lions for MHU. Limestone improved to 3-1 on the season. Mars Hill falls to 1-4 overall.
Morande scored two first-half goals to pace the Saints to a 2-0 halftime lead.
Garwood's first-career goal cut the score to 2-1 just two minutes into the second half. Gregg Munn picked up the assist, serving a free kick deep into the box to set up the goal.
After that, it was all Limestone as the Saints scored five goals over the next 24 minutes to put the game out of reach.
Freitas scored his first goal at MHU at the 74:00 mark, bending in a free kick from the right win. The Saints added two goals for the final margin.
Mars Hill will return to South Atlantic Conference play at Lincoln Memorial this Wednesday, Sep. 25 at 4:00 p.m.
